Japanese Linguistics

In the field of linguistics, the Japanese have long been leaders.  In fact, Japanese is the second most researched language, next to English.  Japanese linguists have excelled in modern, “Western” linguistic theory, as well as long been leaders domestically in areas such as phonetics and neurolinguistics.  Likewise, Japanese has attracted more Western linguistics scholars than any other non-English language.  Still, online resources dealing with Japanese linguistics, and the science of linguistics generally, are practically non-existent.  This section is an evolving attempt at filling this gap.  Japanese language learners, please understand the importance of understanding Japanese, as well as your native language and language generally from a scientific viewpoint.  This section is presented simply, so that non-classically trained linguists can appreciate it.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy*
